HAPPY NEW YEAR!

~ Sally & Ron

And then it was time for the gift exchange! This year, my cousin Sam got me, and she gave me a Guess purse! It's quite 'bling', wouldn't you agree? My sister Shirley made magazine covers for everyone, and then my brother played his annual rap song with lyrics he wrote himself!! It's 'dope' (as he would say).
Through the snow, wind, and slippery roads...we all made the trek out to Markham for our Kris Kringle get-together! After eating tons of food, and being entertained by Jared with his singing (it was so cute)...we all opened our presents! I got Di, Di got Mae, Mae got Ev, Ev got Norm, Norm got Gerwyn, Gerwyn got Ron, Ron got Glenn, Glenn got Mel, and Mel got ME! (whew)
I watched I Am Legend with Quel during the day. It was a movie we had seen filmed while we were in New York City last year, so we had to find that one scene together! Well I did! It was on for a second, but unfortunately, Quel blinked and missed it! You'll have to rent the DVD now Quel. It was a pretty good movie nonetheless.
Today, I had the day off! What does one do when everyone else is working? Not much. I slept in, finished my Christmas shopping, and then Ron and I met up with his Chinese Rye Crew at Yang's Kitchen for an all-you-can-eat sushi Christmas dinner.
Next stop was the University of Toronto Gospel Choir's concert. Our friend Mike is part of the choir and Quel and I have gone every year for the last 3 years...almost seems like tradition now.
So it's been exactly one-month since I've had the 'newbie' vehicle. My whole attitude was that it's just a 'car'....no biggie. I was still not over losing my Civic...
I headed over to the Academy of Spherical Arts after work today for our Christmas Party! We had a buffet dinner, dessert, pool tables to play with, and lots of prizes were given out: paid vacations days, $50 gift certificates (Roots, movies), Raptor tickets, Leaf tickets, $100 gift certificates (LCBO, Home Depot, restaurants), $500 gift certificates (Future Shop), and even $1000 gift certificates (at Flight Centre, and another at some mall)!
Diana and I headed over to Bar Italia tonight for a lovely dinner.
Tonight I went to Ev & Stuart's Engagement Party at the Bier Market. Stuart's in town for a while, so this was the 'meet and greet Ev's fiancé' party for everyone here in Toronto. I was the first one there, with 7 lawyers (geez, talk about intimidating)! Ev and Stu were stuck in a cab so I had to entertain all the suits! :)
Saturday night was a Hawaiian 30th Birthday surprise party for Alfie's new wife, Sandra. Because she had gotten sick during their wedding reception, Alfie threw her a party with the same DJ, and invited most of the same people from their wedding night to try and make up for what she missed out on. Why a Hawaiian theme? It's where they went on their honeymoon!
I met up with Quel for dinner tonight, and she took me to a Filipino restaurant that I'd never heard of before: Casa Manila.
It didn't quite turn out as I had planned. I blame it all on that damn DVP!! Traffic was crazy Saturday night, and with me only going 100km/hour (I'm still working in my new engine on the CRV!)...we missed our dinner reservation.
We all gathered for dinner at Mae & Glenn's place for some Mexican eats! It was delicious: Paella, Enchiladas, Nachos, Salad...and for dessert: Fried Ice Cream!
In the evening, Ron and I met up with my cousins at Dave & Buster's to celebrate my cousin Lorna's 20th birthday! Below is a photo of me and Lorna when she was only 3 years old...and look at us now!! How can this kid possibly be 20 years old, when I still look exactly the same?? :)
Karen is on cloud nine with her new 'doctor' boyfriend; while Shaun is back in school going for his MBA in Finance. It was great to meet up with these guys. It seems like they're the only ones that keep my memory of Montreal alive! They both had said that they had gone back to Montreal, but it wasn't the same without the rest of us there....as I'm sure it would be for me too!
Ron and I hosted OUR first dinner party at his place Saturday night! Because of my bad back, I couldn't cook dinner so we did the next best thing: Lin Garden take-out! Almost like what I would have cooked, I'm sure! ;)
I went to Quel's for dinner tonight, and to my surprise...the meal consisted of vegetables! You have to know Quel to know that she doesn't eat vegetables...let alone cook with it! Asparagus, portobello mushrooms, sweet mashed potatoes, red/yellow/orange peppers and chicken (we had to have SOME meat!).
As weird as this dinner was, I went and had a great time! Who would have thought? Melanie is now married with 2 kids (a 10-year-old girl; and a 2-1/2 year-old boy)...while Rowena's single and wants to travel the world! And then there was me....the girl with the bad back, and walks like an ol' woman!
It's a nice ride and so much bigger than my old car!! But as Ron said: It's a good 'family' car! hehe...Now I won't need to buy a bike rack.
We then stopped off at the Infiniti dealership, so that Ron could test-drive the G-35 Sedan. It was a sweet ride...very powerful, with a lot of cool "techy" things inside it.
It was quite an exhausting day, and by the end, my back started hurting, so we just went to rent a movie: Just My Luck starring Lindsay Lohan. It was a teeny-bopper chick-flick, but I love those types of movies!
Neighbours came out then, and called the police and the ambulance. I told them that I lived in the house in front of me, only to realize I was no longer in front of MY house, but my neighbour's house! The car had hit me so hard, that it dragged me all the way to about 20' in front of where I was originally.
Who is it you ask? It's Ron and his older sister, Rose. We're gonna give her a copy of it for her birthday next month (since Ron has the only copy). Cute eh?
Thanks to all those that donated!
After the run, I met up with my family to celebrate my dad's birthday at Wasabi. Nothing like a buffet after a run! You can bet I got my money's worth! haha....Happy Birthday Tatay!

It was a beautiful day, and I'm glad I had camera in hand! :)
I drive to work now, and as I was sitting in traffic on my way home, I heard on Flow 93.5 that you could win the new Halo 3! Knowing that this is one of Ron's favourite video games, I decided to try and call in!
