CIBC Run for the Cure...

Thanks to all those that donated!

This year, Zarius accompanied me with his mom, and his aunt Farah. It was a beautiful morning...can't wait to do it again next year!

After the run, I met up with my family to celebrate my dad's birthday at Wasabi. Nothing like a buffet after a run! You can bet I got my money's worth! haha....Happy Birthday Tatay!

Game addiction!

I have a new game. Ron downloaded it for me on his PC, and I've been addicted! It's not even a hard game, and it's very "kid-like"...but playing a few games of it somehow got me hooked. Maybe 'cause the customers keep thanking Sally after the great service, that it somehow got to be more "real" for me....but I was determined to finish it! And I did!

I think I have carpal tunnel now from all that computer mouse action! I know....I'm such a GEEK!

A tourist in Toronto...

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale, a tale of a fateful trip
That started from Diana's place...And no, we didn't skip.

This girl was a mighty walking woman,
and Quel was brave and sure.
Two passengers set foot that day...For a three hour WALK, a three hour WALK.

It was a beautiful day, and I'm glad I had camera in hand! :)

Simple Pleasures

or in my case...a little perverted!

This is what Derek's elevator said to us daily when we were in San Francisco:

I was like: right here , right now?!!? KINKY!!
hahaha

360 degrees at the Golden Gate Bridge!

Almost like you were there, right? :)

Wii are in the club!

While shopping at Walmart yesterday, Ron made an impulse purchase! It was the last one in the store!

Wii will be challenging all of you fellow Wii-owners VERY soon! Bring IT!

Caller #9...not caller #5!

I drive to work now, and as I was sitting in traffic on my way home, I heard on Flow 93.5 that you could win the new Halo 3! Knowing that this is one of Ron's favourite video games, I decided to try and call in!

To my surprise, the phone actually rang! It NEVER rings when I try to call (I've been trying to win in the mornings for various contests!). Anyway, this is how our conversation went:
Flow: Hello?
me: Hi, who am I calling? (I thought I had the wrong #!)
Flow: This is Flow 93.5...who do you want to call?
me: Oh, this is the right # then. I'm calling for the Halo 3? Did I win?
Flow: Nope, you're caller #5, you have to be caller #9.
me: Oh, well put me on hold and come back to me after caller #8 then!

It was nice to know I could get through the line though. Sorry Ron, no Halo 3 for you!

Back from the West Coast!

(sigh)
It's always so sad coming back from a vacation...knowing you have to unpack, and get ready for the work week. But writing about it here should refresh my memory of the great vacation we had and cheer me up!
  • Sunday, September 2nd: on the plane over, we flew over the Colorado river, shown in the pic below. We arrived in San Francisco late Sunday night, got our convertible rental car (it's the only way to roll on the West Coast, apparently!) and checked into our hotel. The only thing we had time for was a late dinner at Denny's!

  • Monday, September 3rd: we drove around in Oakland, looking for McAfee Stadium (where the Raiders play). It was the one thing on Ron's list to check out while we were there. We found it, but it was closed because of the holiday...too bad. We stopped for a quick lunch at IN N OUT Burger (the best burger joint everrrrr!), before heading over to Berkeley to check out the campus. We then met up with Derek, who arrived earlier that day. He took us to The House of Prime Rib for dinner! It's one of the best prime rib around, and it WAS! The best part was if you were still hungry, they give you seconds on the meat! The meal itself was so filling though, that there was no room for seconds!

  • Tuesday, September 4th: Ron and I were off to Los Angeles early that morning. We had breakfast, and then we went to Target to get a gift for my cousin's new baby. With the top down on the convertible, we drove 5 hours, and then was stuck in L.A. traffic for about an hour when we got there! arrrgh! We checked into our hotel, and then met up with Randy & Nikki for dinner at Pinoy Pinay (yes, a Filipino restaurant). There were so many Filipinos there that I felt like I was back in the Philippines. In the same neighbourhood we had dinner, there was also Red Ribbon, Chow King, Goldilocks and a Jollibee! These are restaurants I went to in the Philippines, and I had no idea they were here in L.A....it was great (thought of you Quel)! We then headed over to Starbuck's for a coffee, and some late night catching up! Randy had plenty to tell us about his life in the West Coast (as you can all imagine!). It was so nice to see him!

  • Wednesday, September 5th: I was woken up by my cell phone early this morning (remember, we're 3 hours behind!). It was a text message from Di, telling me about Ev's big news: she's ENGAGED!!!! How awesome! Sad that I couldn't be in town for that! Congrats Ev & Stuart! Since I was awake, we decided to get up and get ready for Hollywood baby! Ron's never been, so it was off to the Walk of Fame, the Mann Chinese Theatre, and Rodeo Drive for us! It was sooo hot in L.A....they were going through a heat wave, and the days we were there were apparently the coolest it's been in a while! geez! After touring around in Hollywood, we then had to meet up with my cousin and her family: my Ate Nini, Kuya Richie, and their newest addition...baby Riley Reagan. He's soooo cute, and I'm glad that I had a chance to spend some time with them. They took us to a Filipino restaurant (yes, another one!)...but it was sooo good: Crispy Pata, Kare-Kare, BBQ, calamari, shrimps, and garlic fried rice! YUM!

  • Thursday, September 6th: we headed back to San Francisco, but this time, we were going to take the scenic route...along the coast! But not before having breakfast at Jollibee: tocino, egg, and garlic fried rice....oh yah, typical Filipino breakfast! I even went to another store to grab some Taho, and Karioka before the trip! With stomachs filled, we put the top down, and we were off! Now the one thing with taking the scenic route, is that it's slower. It would take double the time to drive this way, so we drove this way for part of the route....and then we had to get back onto the main highway to make up for some time. We even managed to stop off for a bit in Gilroy for some outlet shopping! Derek was at home waiting for us when we got back to San Francisco. He took us to a Peruvian restaurant for dinner, called Mochica. Again, very delicious! He then was off salsa dancing, and I went with him! Ron stayed at home since he drove most of the way back, and was exhausted. We took Derek's Porsche Boxster out to go to the club since it was just the two of us....how cool did I feel in that?!?! The club had a live band, so it was great to just hear the music! I danced a bit...but I'm so way out of practice, I just wanted to watch and listen to the band!

  • Friday, September 7th: Derek worked from home in the morning, and then took the rest of the day off to show us around town: Lombard Street, the Golden Gate Bridge, Ghirardelli Square, Union Square, and then he dropped us off at Fisherman's Wharf, where Ron and I had Bubba Gump's for dinner!

  • Saturday, September 8th: we headed back to Oakland to check to see if we could tour McAfee Stadium, since it was closed the first time we were there. We were in luck! The security guard let us in to walk around the stadium, but we couldn't walk inside, since the first Raiders' game was on Sunday, and they were getting the stadium ready. After that, we decided to stop by at Stanford University! It was huge! We didn't have enough time to even drive through the entire campus! We came back to Derek's place shortly after to say goodbye (he had to go to a wedding), ordered Chinese Food, packed and then was off....back on a plane to the T dot!

What a great week! Ron goes back to school and studying now for the next while, so this will be the last trip we take for a while....(sigh).

Congratulations Alfie & Sandra!

It's hard to believe Alfie's married. Of all my boyz, I thought HE would be one of the last ones to get hitched! And he was the first! Just goes to show you how much life surprises you. Congratulations Alfie!
Highlights of the day (so I can give you ladies more details when I get back):
- my car got broken into in the morning! but with plastic and duck tape covering my broken car window, I still made it to the church in time.
- Sandra had an allergic reaction after dinner....and the ambulance came! She was MIA for the remainder of the night!
(that's all I can remember right now as I write this hung over....and I have to get on a plane shortly). blech.
