A trip to Centre Island!

With the kids out of school, I decided to take my three nieces to Centre Island for their first day of summer vacation, and for Jacen's first time there! Diana, Marley, Sue & Sully joined us as well which was even more fun!

We had a nice picnic lunch - I brought pizzas, buns, cookies, chips, fruit cups, pudding... which was all gone by the end of the day! We even managed to all go on the rides! It was a fun day out and we were all exhausted by the end of the day.

Sade live in concert!

I was fortunate enough to score a ticket to see Sade in concert tonight. With John Legend opening for her, it was a great concert! There were no big theatrics, just her singing. She sounded exactly like her cd's, which is what I find so amazing with these artists! She also seemed very down to earth dancing on stage with no shoes on all night.

It was a great night out! My sister was with me, and my brother was in the section next to us. And then I bumped into my old friend Rico who was sitting in the row in front of us! Too funny!

On another note, I was playing Sade while dancing with Jacen and by the second song he was out! I may have just discovered a new set of lullabies for him!! :)

Rediscovering the library!

With the warmer weather outside, I take Jacen out for walks daily. Today, I decided to take him to the library. Ron and I have been reading to him and he seems to have taken an interest in books so having a variety to read to him might be good to have.

I signed up for a library card, and took a tour of the place.... so quiet! It's a good thing Jacen was too! Lesley (Sebby's wife), who is a teacher had given me a list of books that she had been reading to their son, as well as others she had recommended so I thought I would look for those. It was a bit hard once Jacen got fussy, so I decided to do it online instead. What a wonderful concept!

I just finished requesting a bunch of books - it's like online shopping but free!! They also have DVD's and CD's that you can borrow as well. And the great thing is that now, I won't have to look for it myself at the library. They will contact me when my books are ready, and I can just go pick it up...perfect for someone who doesn't have much time!! I am loving the library!!

Meeting Miss Scarlett!

I finally got a chance to meet Ev & Stu's newest addition: Scarlett. She's beautiful! And it's nice to have another girl for Jacen to be around (so that he knows that not all girls have to make him cry...right Marley?? hehe). It was a great day out with my fellow mommas Di and Ev. We took up most of the sidewalk with our strollers - we look like a gang walking down the street! haha... thanks for a fun day out ladies!

Surprise! Surprise!

My mom turned 60 years old a month ago (a day after my birthday actually). She kept saying how we couldn't surprise her for her birthday - and surprise.... we didn't throw her a party... until TODAY! We didn't tell my dad, or any of the kids in order to keep it a surprise. It was just between us siblings, and my sister thought holding it on Father's Day would totally surprise her. It was a Hawaiian-themed party, and we siblings even did a small performance for our mommy - very similar to one we did years ago when we were kids (probably not so cute now as adults, but still amusing for my mom!). Happy Birthday Momma and a Happy Father's Day to all the dads there today!

Meeting Stevie B!

I used to love listening to Stevie B. So did Ron. I was driving one day and heard on the radio that Stevie B was going to be at Dirty Martini nightclub! So I checked it out online and sure enough, here was the ad:I decided to enter the contest. It was after all, just an email. Here's what I wrote:

HI, my name is Sally, and I would LOVE to bring my husband to Dirty Martini to meet and see Stevie B! We both grew up listening to his music, and my husband owns all his albums. We even requested the DJ play his music at our wedding! Since having our baby (he's 6 months now), we haven't had a chance to go out and since this is my hubby's FIRST Father's Day, it would be the perfect gift - a night out AND it's with Stevie B!! He absolutely loves his music, and it would take us back to a time before diapers, and sleepless nights!

I sent the email and hadn't thought about it again (mommy brain). It wasn't until last Monday in which I received a response to the email above that I had WON the contest!! HILARIOUS! With my sister Sarah babysitting Jacen, I decided to take Ron out clubbing for a special first Father's Day and meet Stevie B! He performed for about half an hour - 6 songs including the 2 that I absolutely love (both of which were in our wedding cd): Dreaming of Love, and Spring Love. And then they took us in the back to meet him! I even brought my cd for him to sign. hehe. Great night out with my hubby! Happy FIRST Father's Day Ron!

Lil' bean and green...

Diana & Marley took us to check out Lil' Bean and Green café today, where Lesley, Nolan and Sebby decided to join us! The café is a place where parents can go with their kids - there's a play place in the back where the kids can go and the parents can watch them while sitting with a coffee and a snack.

After our get-together, Di and I walked around the neighbourhood until the babies fell asleep. We then headed to Ed's Real Scoop for some yummy ice cream and relaxed until they both woke up!

Happy Birthday Max!

We headed out to Milton today to celebrate Max's first birthday! Max is Dexter & Cathy's son. Dex and Ron got into some drunken adventures in their younger years, and since Max and Jacen are the same age - their dads are expecting them to follow in their footsteps.... geez, I hope NOT! On another note, everyone at the party thought Jacen looked like ME! whoohoo!

Movie time!

I haven't been to a mommy movie in a while. Since my Mommy & Baby exercise classes are on the same day, it makes movie watching a bit hard. But we headed downtown to meet Lesley & Nolan for a movie today: Bridesmaids! It was pretty funny! I quite enjoyed it and was glad to be out (instead of exercising). Lesley had never been to Prairie Girl Cupcakes so we ventured our way there after for a tasting. YUM! Thanks for coming out Les & Nolan!

Reunited and it feels so good!

I received the phone call yesterday - my Mac was 'ready for pickup'. I was so relieved! So off we went to pick it up today. I actually really missed my computer... it's just not the same surfing the net with Ron's PC computer... a PC - ech!

The receipt on my invoice stated $1066 for the repair... can you believe that? But because I had bought the Apple Care Protection Plan, I didn't have to pay it... thank GAWD!! (I would have just bought a new one!). Welcome home!
