Happy 41st Anniversary!

The whole family (plus our 'adopted' brother Leonard) headed out to Dragon Pearl restaurant to celebrate my parents' 41st wedding anniversary! The food was pretty good! BTW - there are more members to my family than what you see below. We were all up and about to get food so this was all I could get before Jacen's feeding!

Fitness + Relaxation

Ron watched Jacen while I went out to redeem one of the Groupon deals I bought a while ago for a Massage and Facial! It's a place called Hand & Stone Massage Spa. Alone time for me is now rare and far between so when I do get it, I have to enjoy every minute of it! It was good - the massage was alright, and my face felt wonderful after my facial! When I got home, apparently, Jacen only cried for a little bit while I was gone.

We then got Jacen ready as I was dropping him off at my sister Sarah's house. Ron and I headed to the YMCA so that I could teach him how to play squash! It was 'sorta' our second date night! I taught him the rules of the game, and showed him how to play the best that I could. The result?? I won 4 games straight!! :P I have to admit though, for Ron's first time playing... he returned some of my hits that most people don't get. It surprised me! We then headed out to grab a bite before picking Jacen back up.

A visit from Mylene!

Mylene came by for a visit today since she has Fridays off. We walked around my area and decided to go to the sushi restaurant across the street for lunch. It was fun! Jacen was so good too! He didn't cry once except of course as we were leaving the restaurant as it was feeding time! She came back to the condo and wanted to see our wedding and honeymoon photos so we chatted and had tea and cookies for a bit before she had to go! Thanks for visiting Mylene!

Introducing Scarlett!

I'd like to introduce Evelyn & Stuart's newest addition to their family: Scarlett Gallardo Milner! Born on March 9, 2010 at 9:15pm... she weighed in at 7lb. 14oz!
I haven't actually met her yet, as this was a photo Ev sent to me via email. They're doing well and apparently, big brother Eric is always kissing his little sister! Awww...

Can't wait to meet you Miss Scarlett!! :)

Homemade Toaster Pastry!

As mentioned in a previous blog... I've been watching the Food Network lately, and came across a show called '5 Ingredient Fix'. The basis of the show is cooking with only 5 main ingredients... which I think is AWESOME!! She made this toaster pastry and as I was watching it, I realized that I had all 5 ingredients at home so I thought I'd try it out! It was super-easy, and the result was pretty darn good (shown in photo above). Ron and I both enjoyed this sweet treat! If you want the recipe, I've linked it. Enjoy!

We headed over to Quel's place for brunch this morning. She made us a Spinach Quiche which was very good! Soon after we ate, Jacen fell asleep so it gave us time to have a bit of girl talk which I always appreciate. Below is one of my favourite photos of Quel and Jacen.

Date Night!

Ron and I were finally able to go out on a 'date night' tonight. He's not starting his studies again until April, so I have my husband back for a little while... yay! We asked my sister Sarah to babysit and decided to go out for a nice dinner! We ended up at The Keg, as I was craving the Billy Miner Pie!

The food was deeeee-licious! I had the Prime Rib with Grilled Shrimp, while Ron had the New York Striploin. The meat just melted in my mouth, I couldn't believe how good it was! And after all that food, you better believe I still had room for dessert! Sooooo gooooood! Thanks for taking me out Ron!

Trying out my baking skills...

Staying at home makes for a lot of TV watching.... specifically the food channel! It has inspired me to try some of the recipes that I haven't tried for a while:
Ginger snaps, Shepherd's pie (in individual portions), Apple Pie in puff pastry, and Strawberry Shortcake! What's with my food obsession lately?? (I've noticed the latest blog posts have been about food).

Mmmmmm.....

We headed downtown today to visit with Diana and Marley. Since it was so nice out, I wanted to go back to that bakery by her house (Bobbette & Belle), as it's been a while since I was there. I'm determined to try something different each time I go there. Today's choice was a Peanut Butter cupcake, and a Chocolate Ganache macaron. Di had Caramel Apple Bread Pudding and some other flavoured macaron which I can't remember now. It was all SO GOOOOD! Can't wait to try more!!

Mini desserts we picked up before heading over to Eswin & Shareen's house for lunch today!! I love variety so I didn't feel guilty for having more than one of these sweet desserts!!

Max's Restaurant!

I was excited to try out Max's Restaurant today. It's a new Filipino restaurant that just opened up at Dufferin/Steeles (which isn't too far from me... whoohoo!). This is the first Max restaurant that has opened up here in Canada.

I was excited because years ago, when Quel and I headed to the Philippines together... Max's Restaurant was the place we had our first meal in the motherland! I had the Beef Nilaga, Crispy Pata, and Gullaman & Sago drink. The verdict?? Very good! The staff was friendly, the place was clean, and the owner even came by and spoke to us for a bit.

Quel - my next trip there is with you!! Oh the Philippine memories...

Ron has his big exam today, so I thought I'd make him a special breakfast to start his day off:
May the force be with you Ron as you write your exam!! I had bought these pancake molds a couple of weeks ago (Ron's a big Star Wars fan), and decided to try them out today. How cute are these??

I think I need to grease up the mold so they don't stick so much and break. I also need to space them out more so that they don't land on each other when I flip them over (ooops)... I'll know for next time!

Happy Birthday Jaylene!

We headed out all the way to Oshawa to celebrate Jaylene's 11th Birthday today. She wanted to go to Neb's Fun World, where the kids were able to go bowling, go-karting, rock-climbing, etc. I think the adults were more competitive on the go-karts than the kids were... it was on! Happy Birthday Jay!

Rapper's Delight!

Jacen was awake early this morning, so I decided to bring him into bed with us. He ended up just waking Ron and I up with his silly sounds and coo's so Ron and I ended up playing with him! I remembered that my brother had mentioned that when he rapped to Jacen, he really liked it. So I suggested to Ron that we rap to him with the only two rap songs I know the words to: Bust A Move by Young MC, and The Message by Grandmaster Flash. It was hilarious (more for me and Ron), but the result?? Jacen just stared at us, smiled and we even heard a small giggle from him! haha!
