Happy Birthday Sam!

My youngest cousin, Samantha turned the legal drinking age of 19 years old earlier this week, so the cousins decided to take her out and introduce her to this lovely age! :)

We all headed to Niagara Falls for the weekend, since my brother hooked us up with hotel rooms! It was a fun, but cold night! The mist from the falls put a layer of thick ice onto each and every car near it, and the sidewalks were always being salted by trucks.

Mine and Ron's gift to Sam was a dvd that I had made for her. I was able to convert a really old VHS tape of Sam when she was only 3 years old (1993). She was so cute! She sang her ABC's, and the itsy-bitsy-spider... and for some reason, we all wore these huge glasses back then (not to mention how skinny we all were)! It was hilarious to watch with the entire family.

Sam wanted to go to Applebee's for her birthday dinner (she's seen commercials and had always wanted to try it), so that's where we took her. We then headed to the casino since she had never been, and I have to tell you... there was a '30-years old or over' express line to get in, which I didn't realize was the line I was in, and she took one look at me and just let me right in. :(

It's a sad, sad day when you can easily go through the '30-years old or over' line (sigh)...

Counting calories...

Di sent me this website earlier this week, but I just got around to looking at it tonight: http://caloriecount.about.com/

It's kinda like a weight journal to help you keep track of your calorie intake. You're supposed to log in everything you eat daily, and then it tells you how much to burn. As well, if you put a target weight that you want, then it will help you with the amount of calories you should consume each day. I thought I would give it a try! Wish me luck!

Counting my calories begins...

A visit with Mikael...

Ron and I headed over to Mississauga today. His friends Eswin and Shareen, with baby Mikael were going to meet us at Ron's parents place.

Eswin is one of Ron's oldest friends and Ron's parents wanted to see their baby. He's adorable! I hadn't seen him since he was just born, and here he is at 7 months! It always amazes me how much time 7 months is to a growing baby, but to the rest of us adults... it's nothin'!

I met up with Di , and we ended up using one of her gift certificates that she had for cupcakes.

Just check out that photo.

'nuff said.

He ain't into ya'...

I met up with Quel tonight, as I hadn't seen her since she left to go to the motherland almost a month ago! We shopped, we ate, and then we went to go see 'He's Just Not That Into You'.... which I quite enjoyed!

I actually never read the book, but was curious to see how they would turn it into a movie. I enjoyed seeing all the cast members like Ben Affleck, Jennifer Aniston, Scarlett Johansson, Jennifer Connelly, Kevin Connolly and Drew Barrymore all take part in this movie!

Valentine schmalentine!

Do you want to know how we spent our V-day?

Ron ordered Red Lobster take-out (the restaurant was CRAZY busy btw - we couldn't even get through the crowd of people to try and order our take-out!) and we stayed in and watched the NBA All-Star Saturday - the Shooting Stars, Skills Challenge, 3-point Shoot-out, and the Slam Dunk competition! Oh yeahhhhh!

It's exactly how I would have spent my Saturday night - Valentine's Day or not! :P

My new indulgence...

Meet my new favourite dessert: the Caramel Apple Blossom. It's sooo good, and I've been craving it for the past few months. I'm not even a huge fan of sweet desserts. I'm more of a 'salty' snacker, actually. Ron, however, is the opposite. If you've been to his place, you'll realize he's very much a 'sweet' snacker - cookies, candy, chocolate bars, etc.

He introduced me to the Caramel Apple Blossom, and I've been hooked ever since. You have to heat it up so that all the caramel melts over the apple blossom, and then you top it off with vanilla ice cream.... mmm mmm mmmm good!

iPhoto is racist!

I blogged about the new version of iLife 2009 last week. This week, my coworker told me that he got it and that I could get it off of him. So I did! I installed my new exciting software and tried it out.

iPhoto has this new feature called Faces. You import all your photos, and what you can do is tag each face that's detected in the photo with a name (kinda like tagging in Facebook), so your photos are searchable in your photo library (a feature I absolutely love!). As you import more photos into your library, it scans each photo and you can confirm if they've tagged the correct face to the name it already has in the database. See below for the photos of 'Sally' that it asked to confirm:I think iPhoto thinks that all Asians are the same!! I can understand both of my sisters looking like me, but apparently, Mel and that other Asian in there looks like me too! It's hilarious!

Check out some of the hits Ron got when photos were scanned for HIS face! It includes all of our significant others: Norm, Raju, Gerwyn... even Stu!! hoa hoa hoa... I think they still need to work out some bugs in the software, huh?? :)

Happy Birthday Tanaz!

Here were are. 2009. The year most of us turn 34 (although SOME of us are turning the big 3-5 this year... uh HUH!).

Tanaz is one of the first ones of my friends to start the aging process this year! :P Here's to 34 Tanaz! I still can't get over it.. aren't we still 17 and in highschool??

We all went to Kagoshima Japanese Restaurant to celebrate the occasion. The food was great, and soo filling! Zarius kept taking photos all night... I felt like the paparazzi was after me! :P

Superbowl Sunday!

With the big hype for Superbowl Sunday, I decided to try and join in on the fun! Ron and I were thinking about going out for dinner, but decided to just stay in and watch the game at home. I made chicken wings, roast potatoes, breaded shrimp, chicken strips and beer of course, to commemorate the big game. I'm not a huge football fan, but Ron's very good at explaining it to me, so I'm learning more and more.

Since everyone seems to be going for the Steelers... I decided to go for the underdog Cardinals. That and I like the colour of their team more! :P
