Introducing baby Eric!

The gang headed over to the hospital after work to visit with Ev, Stu and baby Eric! Born on August 30, 2009, he's the smallest baby I've ever seen weighing in at only 5lb. 6oz. Ev said it was the most pain she's ever felt in her life, and if it was that painful at 5lbs... I can't imagine the pain at a heavier weight! :P

Baby Eric and family are all well, and that's what's important. He is so cute! Ten cute long fingers, and ten cute little toes... with a full head of hair! Carrying him was so easy, since he weighed so little. Can't wait to see you grow up baby Eric... you make a great addition to the gang! Welcome to the world!

Fan Expo 2009!

Ron's been wanting to go to Comicon (called Fan Expo in Toronto) for years! But each year, there seems to be a birthday or a wedding, or some kind of event happening that prevented him from going.

This year, however, we made sure to clear our schedules. We brought my two nephews with us and we made a day of it! I brought my camera with me, and I'm glad I did because I ended up seeing: Huddy, Jaime, Jason and Peter (from GCM, who I haven't seen in years!).... and there were a few celebrities there who I managed to take photos of: Billy Dee Williams (aka Lando Calrissian in Star Wars), Lou Ferrigno (aka The Hulk), Victor Lucas & Scott Jones (hosts of Reviews on the Run - a show that the boys watch quite often), Linda Hamilton (aka Sarah Connor in The Terminator), James Kyson Lee (aka Ando Masahashi in Heroes), Larry Thomas (aka The Soup Nazi in Seinfeld), and a couple of my ol' time favourite wrestlers: The Iron Sheik and The Honky Tonk Man!

The kids (including Ron) had a great time! There were a lot of freebies to take home (t-shirts, comic books, pens, posters, cards, drinks, etc.)... so they were happy!

Surprise baby shower!

Ev and Stu thought they were going to a friend's 80's themed birthday party.... little did they know that the party was really for them and their soon-to-be-baby! It was hilarious! The couple came out decked in their best 80's outfit, and were surprised to find that they were the only ones dressed in that theme! Thanks for being such good sports Ev & Stu... we all had a great laugh on your behalf! We'll be sure to tell this story to your child someday! :P

This just in (Aug. 30th, 9:30am): I just found out that after they got home from the shower, Ev's water broke later that night!! Baby's not due until September 23rd, but I guess after meeting all of us at the party... baby was ready to come on out!! Can't wait to meet you little one!!

Another update (Aug. 30th, 10:24pm): Ev just sent a text message... it read:
It's w/great excitement that we announce the EARLY arrival of our son, Eric, today @ 6:25pm. We are well & cannot wait for you to meet him!
A BOY!! Yay!! A baby boy... how exciting Ev & Stu! Can't wait to meet the lil' mate!

Birthday shopping!

I met Quel after work since it was her last day before she joined me at the 34 year age! We met at Scarborough Town Center, and we were going to head to the Ex, but due to the rain, we decided to do a bit of birthday shopping instead (ok, it's not MY birthday but who am I to not partake in what the birthday girl wants??).

I ended up buying a dress, 3 bras, 4 tops, a sweater, a skirt and a necklace.... happy birthday to ME?!? hehe. After all the shopping, we went to an all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant where we completely pigged out. I was so unbelievably full, I thought I was gonna throw up. Happy Birthday Quel!

An awkward moment...

When Ron and I got home late last night from a day in Buffalo, there was a message on the machine. It was HIS ex-girlfriend calling to wish him a happy birthday... (no comment).

Then this morning, Ron was in the bathroom and the phone rang. I answered it. It was 'The EX'. I won't mention her name, but I haven't spoken to this girl since I first met her years ago, when she was dating Ron and had invited me to a surprise birthday dinner she threw for him. This is how the conversation went. (The words in brackets are what went through my head as I spoke to her):

me: Hello?
the 'ex': Hi, I'm not sure if I have the right number, but I'm looking for Ron?

me: Yes, he's just in the bathroom right now, can I take a message? (Nope, you have the wrong #)
the 'ex': Sure, if you can just let him know that I called.

me: Sure, no problem. Does he have your number? (Why are you calling?)
the 'ex': Um, I'm not sure... I left a message last night.

me: Oh yes, we got that message late last night. This is Sally actually, we met once a while ago? (The one you spoke badly about years ago, do you remember me?)
the 'ex': Yes, I remember. I just wanted to see how he was doing and wish him a happy birthday.

me: Ok, I'll give him the message. Thanks.
the 'ex': Ok, thanks.

She doesn't know that we got married, actually... Ron hasn't spoken to her in years! I gave the message to Ron, and that was that. (hmph!)

Guess who's 35 today?

My husband! :)
Shown below, the many faces of Ron through his 35 years! (Yes, and I still married him. haha.) We kicked off the celebration last night with a night at the drive-in. All the cousins came out, so we ended up having 3 extra people in our car with us. We watched G.I. Joe, and Transformers... perfect to bring Ron back to his childhood years. Today, we're off to go to Buffalo!

Happy 35th Birthday Ron!

Photography shots...

Today, Freddie (my friend, and our wedding photographer) sent us the link to some of the photos he took:

Below are just a few of my favourites, but there are so many that I love! He did a great job, and it meant a lot to me to have him as our photographer. Having someone you've known since grade 5 made it so much more fun! Thanks Freddie!!! You're awesome! :)

Chuckie CHEESE!

August is a month with so many birthdays... the festivities have begun! First up was my niece, Melia. We went to my sister's house for a surprise birthday party for her, the day after we came back from our honeymoon. We had just woken up that morning when my sister called to tell us about the party... before even unpacking... off we went! It was fun to see the whole family again... and we got to hear a lot of wedding stories from each of them. We ended up spending the entire day over there... but had to leave at 8pm when sleepiness hit us (it was 2am Italy time!).

Next up is my niece Aleenah. Her birthday was spent at Chuckie Cheese! Only my family could enjoy this place as much as the kids do. We were all over the place... playing games, collecting tickets to win prizes... but the machine that seemed to have us all excited was the photo card machine. It's just a photo booth that takes a picture of you and randomly chooses a card to put your photo onto. But for some reason, we were all hooked! Each of us wanted a specific card, and because it was so random... it was hard to get the card you wanted! But that didn't stop us from trying! And then it was a matter of catching someone on the machine, and trying to get into the photo as well! As you can see below... we had some fun with these... chuckie CHEESE!

The honeymooners...

Ron and I are back from our honeymoon... and it was wonderful! (Italy ain't too bad, either!) haha.

We had an awesome time, and Italy truly is a beautiful place. The weather in Italy was sunny and hot!! It must have been close to 40 degrees celsius daily. The food was delicious, and the sightseeing was unbelievable. There were times we felt like we were just in a movie set... it seemed too good to be true! We were, however, limited to get everywhere I wanted to due to my broken ankle (it's not really a handicap-friendly country), but we resorted to the double-decker bus tours (in Rome, Amalfi Coast, and Florence), and in Venice we walked where we could (getting in and out of those water taxi's and buses were hard for my poor ankle!).

Summary of photos are below for each city, which is just a small fraction of what I actually took (I was clicking away everywhere we went). Now we get back to our lives, and back to the grind. This time however, we do it as a married couple! :)
