Montréal memory lane...

Quel and I just got back from spending a few days in Montreal. It brought back so many memories, since Quel was the person that helped me move there 5 years ago! Being in Montreal made me realize that I made the right decision moving back to Toronto. Don't get me wrong... I love the city... but only to visit! I can't imagine what my life would have been like if I had stayed there.

While we were there we checked out my old hood and walked through the same streets I used to walk through. We ate, got haircuts, shopped, went salsa-dancing, and ate some more!! So many places to eat, so little time! I haven't been to Montreal in over a year, actually, and I have to say.... if you're going to visit Montreal - do it in the summer! It snowed every day we were there and it's colder there so walking around was a bit harsh. Photos of our mini-vacation trip below! Thanks for joining me down Montreal memory lane Quel!

My funemployment days are over!

Alas... I enter the working world again next week! :(

I just accepted a job offer, and you're looking at the new Printing Supervisor for Seneca College. What's funny is that both of my sisters work there as well - and yes, we're going to be working at the same campus! haha. When I told my mom, she was so pleased! She said that since all 3 of her daughters are now working at the same place, she would bring us lunch!! whooo hoo!

Since I start work next week, I thought I would drive down to my old hood in Montreal for a mini-vacay! Au revoir!

Welcome Camilla!

Some of the GCM crew got together to meet its newest addition: Camilla Meixin Chiu. She's so cute, and such a quiet baby! I don't think I heard her cry once while we were there. She just cuddled herself with whoever was holding her (mainly Di). Congratulations to Ken & Lilli, and welcome to the world Camilla!

Birthday celebrations!

Today we headed out west to Mississauga for Ron's cousin's kids birthdays: Rhys (1-year-old) and Christopher (21-years-old)... yes, that's a 20-year gap. And they have a middle child who is 11-years-old! (they're each 10 years apart!!) haha. It was an Olympic theme, and lots of fun! I even saw Raquel's uncle there, who I met when I stayed at his house in the Philippines years ago! It turns out he's here in town for a few months and is friends with some of the parents (including Ron's dad!)... small world.

After that, we had to head all the way east to Ajax for Samantha's surprise birthday party!! My little cousin is now 20-years-old! For her gift, everyone pitched in to get her a new Playstation (PS3). But not before playing a small joke on her. We first presented her with a fake PS3... just the PS3 box with 'stuff' in it. hee hee! She was so disappointed. After we all got our laughs (sorry Sam!), we presented her with her REAL PS3. Happy Birthday!!

Buffalo!

Ron decided to take the day off and we headed to Buffalo for the weekend! He was determined to find a pair of running shoes. As many of you know, my husband has quite the running shoe fetish. He has a collection of them in his closet, and I have to admit... it HAS been a while since he bought a pair! I was just happy to get out of the condo and come for the ride!

The highlight of the trip for ME, was eating at the Cheesecake Factory. It's a MUST for me to go there while in Buffalo actually. I had the Chicken and Avocado Club sandwich... soooo good! The portions were huge... it always amazes me the amount of food they serve. And of course, while you're there, you have to have a slice of cheesecake! My choice today was the Dulce de Leche Caramel cheesecake.... soooo soooo GOOOD!

Steven and Chris...

While we were at The Hour, we noticed that there were tickets available for the show: Steven and Chris as well. So we signed up! I haven't actually seen a show, but figured... why not?!?! These are 2 gay men that discuss fashion & beauty, home decor, food & entertaining, etc.

Before the show, there were makeup artists who volunteered to do your face prior to the taping of the show. And there were a bunch of prizes given out to the audience (we didn't win though), with each of us leaving with a bottle of anti-wrinkle cream at the end.

In case you're at home on March 3, come watch Steve and Chris... that's when the show we were on airs on TV! ;)

The Hour...

My funemployed friends and I decided to be part of The Hour audience today. We headed to the CBC building, where they had a small museum of a few items that they've had through the years.... including my childhood favourite: Mr. Dressup! That's the tree where he always talked to Casey and Finnigan!

Anyway, back to The Hour. Have you guys seen the show? I've only watched it a few times, but I actually don't mind it. George Stroumboulopoulos is the host, and on today's show he interviewed NDP leader, Jack Layton. He talked about his cancer, and how he's dealing with it, and what his plans are for the future... very interesting! After the show, we decided that we could do George's job... nooooo problem! :P

Are you McKidding me??

I haven't been to McDonald's in a loooooong time. When Ron and I do go, we normally go for breakfast. Ron has basketball tonight and wouldn't be home for dinner, and I didn't really feel like cooking so I decided to satisfy my Big Mac craving and go to McDonald's!

Do you know how much it costs for a regular Big Mac combo now?? $7.49 (including tax)

I was shocked! When did it become that much? Is it just me or do you find that ridiculous?

In MY day (when I worked there... the combo's were only $4.27)! Yes, it's been THAT long since I bought a regular combo. For that price, I could have had a whole cooked chicken at Costco! :P

A good read!

When I was a little girl, I loved to read books! The library was my sanctuary, and the adventures were endless! Somewhere along the way, I started going out with friends, dragonboating, dating, internet-surfing, travelling, photography, getting my macbook!, getting married, etc.... and reading no longer became a hobby I had time for.

Recently, Di gave me this book to read: A Thousand Splendid Suns (by Khaled Hosseini), and I couldn't put it down. I wanted to read and read, and I finished the book in 3 days. It was a great book, and one that I would recommend to anyone!

Since finishing this book, my thirst for reading seemed to have returned and found myself searching through all of mine and Ron's book collection! Will let you know if I come across any more good reads! :)
